Panic ensued across all industries. Covid-19 was not something people were prepared for. China was dealing with it from 2019 but nobody really cared until it started affecting us, directly. When it did, everyone was worried, and most companies in a state of panic started remodelling their businesses. We are glad they did. In order to survive, you need to adapt.
However, we did no remodelling whatsoever. We already had a model that was sustainable, but if you noticed, our client count plummeted towards the end of March. As a direct result of Covid-19 our attrition rate doubled! Plot twist! By the end of April though, we not just recovered, but we grew.
First, what we didn’t do:
1. We didn’t panic!
2. We didn’t slash our prices.
3. We didn’t cut salaries.
So, what did we do?
1. We gave concessions to our existing clients if they required it.
2. We invested more money into advertising on social media.
3. We even hired a new full time coach to make sure we kept our clients well looked after. Yes Alpha Lee Fitness team has a new member, we will announce it soon :)
We just buckled down on our existing process and looked after our clients to the best of our ability, while driving more energy into our simple marketing strategy we had adopted from day 1 of Alpha Lee Fitness. Our strategy is not fancy, we create relatable content which is packed with information to help the mass Sinhala speaking community of Sri Lanka. We spend talking directly to our audience members answering their questions 1 on 1 via whatsapp or voice calls. We give more than we ask for, and we do it with passion. From day 1, we invested energy into creating a business to which customers are pulled in. We encourage you to do the same.
Chase stats, money, fame and glory but do it at a sustainable pace with humility. If you do, only a nuclear war will cripple your business and or happiness :)
